IRD change in stance for GST on international shipments

Recently there has been a change in stance from Inland Revenue (IRD) in regard the zero rating of GST on our charges.

All charges relating to the supply chain of international shipping of goods can now be zero rated.

This change will hardly affect you. For example, a typical Stellar invoice for Ex-Works or FOB import shipment might include only $2.25 in GST content. For CFR shipments, where we provide custom clearance and delivery only services, these will also be zero rated going forward.

Exports remain unchanged – zero rated as previously.

For those interested the official IRD ruling can be accessed by clicking on the following link

In particular sections 1a, 1(c) and 1(k)

Stellar will be implementing the change immediately to reflect the new rulings.
